2 bedroom villas

Prices starting from €475 Euros per Week.

1 double bedroom, 1 studio style twin bedroom in the lower level. Sleeps a maximum of 6 -7 persons.
Shared swimming pool (7m x 4m & depth 1.60m)

Simon’s House is a lovely modern split level villa set on the end plot of a small row of villas, nestled on a terraced hillside only 200m from the sandy beach of Almyrida. This end plot guarantees Simon’s House fabulous views of The White Mountains and the olive clad hills that surround the village. Partial views of Souda Bay, Almyrida beach and the 16th Century Turkish Fort at Aptera are also available from Simon’s House. Just 3-4 minutes walk from the beach and many excellent tavernas, cafes and shops, this villa is a great choice for those seeking value for money, beautiful views, comfortable accommodation, and easy access to the many local amenities.

The villa’s design has been carefully thought out so that all of the balconies, terraces, and the pool area benefit from the marvellous mountain, village and olive covered hill and valley views. The living area has prime position on the top floor of Simon’s House whilst the bedrooms are on the lower levels, which helps to keep them cooler during the long hot summer months. The English owners have decorated the villa whilst mostly using the traditional Greek colours of blue and white, which gives the villa a very fresh and light feel. The three shower rooms are fully tiled with blue and grey tiles and they all have a white bathroom suite, the walls throughout the villa are painted white, there are white aluminium window frames, shutters and doors, and the sofas in the lounge and lower level studio/bedroom, and the chairs from the dining suite are all covered with blue fabric. The exception is the double bedroom which has matching bedding and curtains made from a fresh white fabric with a pretty rosebud print. The wooden interior furniture has been made locally, and each terrace has outdoor furniture so that you can fully relax and take in the views. The lower level studio/bedroom can accommodate extra guests as it has an en-suite shower room, and a sitting area with a sofa bed, a nest of tables and a DVD player. In order to make your stay all the more enjoyable Simon’s House has been finished to a high standard and includes; beech kitchen cabinets, black marble effect kitchen worktops, a TV, a DVD player, a microwave oven, a washing machine, and air conditioning units in both bedrooms and the living room. The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights early and late season. There is solar powered hot water or a back-up immersion heater, and a parking area set just off the small road below the villa.

Simon’s House has a number of outdoor balconies and terraces which are on different levels so that there are always seating areas with either sun or shade. At the front of the villa, and below the middle level on the small BBQ terrace, there are gravelled flowerbeds and terracotta pots that have been colourfully planted with date palms, bougainvillea, roses, and cacti. The south facing pool terrace is set high above the road with natural stone paving around the shared pool. There are sun-beds, umbrellas, and a panoramic view of the valley and mountains. Simon’s House is great value for those who wish to be close to the beach, shops and tavernas.

Location

The centre of the village of Almyrida is only 250m from Simon’s House, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license and the Villas Crete Holidays tourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. For a change of pace, a 15 minute walk uphill (or 10 minutes downhill!) will take you to the main square in the neighbouring village of Plaka. There are lovely shady mulberry trees under which the locals sit to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a delicious meal or even just an ice cold frappe. Plaka was one of the original village sets for the film “Zorba the Greek” and it still has quaint whitewashed houses and narrow streets leading off from the square. A few minutes by car from Simon’s House, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.

F.A.Q

Any steps? How many?
a staircase from the parking area to the middle floor of the house, a staircase from the middle floor to the lower floor, a staircase from the middle floor to the upper top floor, steps to the pool terrace, 7 steps to the BBQ area.

How private?
Not especially private as the villa is part of a small row of villas, though it is positioned at the end of the row with the most unobstructed views. The pool is shared with 5 other villas.

Nearest neighbour?
The next door villa, set just behind, but only partially connected to Simon’s House or the row of townhouses set below and across the street.

Almyrida beach and facilities are within easy walking distance, and there is a limited bus service into Chania, but we recommend car hire in order to explore the varied regions of the area.
