3 bedroom villas
 Prices starting from €525

1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedrooms, 1 further bedroom with a single bed and additional roll out single bed. Two bathrooms (1 en-suite).

We usually do not feature villas without swimming pools but we have made an exception for Villa Argo as it is such a lovely villa that is conveniently located in the idyllic hamlet of Aspro, just 1.6km inland from the pretty seaside village of Almyrida. This villa is truly exceptional value for accommodation that has been finished and equipped to such a high standard. Villa Argo sits on a hillside just above the old village of Aspro with magnificent views north across olive groves to Almyrida village, Souda Bay, Karga Island, the Akrotiri Peninsula, and south to the White Mountains.

Built on one level the villa is particularly suitable for families with young children and for the elderly or less abled. The spacious living room and 2 of the 3 bedrooms open out onto a sea facing semi-covered front terrace and gravelled garden area which incorporate a dining and barbeque area. The land drops away in front of the villa which allows for completely unspoilt views. Villa Argo has the corner plot at the end of a small group of houses, and is next to a quaint ancient chapel. Aspro is a particularly peaceful and green hamlet as it is surrounded by acres of land that are covered in mature conifers, carob and olive trees. It is ideal for those of you nature lovers who enjoy walking, as there are many quiet trails leading from the villa across hills and through olive groves, which can take you to Almyrida , Gavalohori , Douliana , Tsivaras and Kera Cove.

The English owners have carefully furnished the villa to incorporate the traditional Greek colours of blue and white in order to give the villa a very fresh and light feel. The villa itself is painted a pale buttermilk colour and has Mediterranean blue aluminium window frames, shutters, doors and matching wooden pergolas. There is also matching sliding door mosquito screens in every room. The built-in wardrobes and kitchen cabinets are white, as are the muslin curtains, the comfortable living room sofas, and the bedroom furniture including the pretty wrought iron bed frames in the twin and double bedrooms. Villa Argo has many thoughtful touches in order to make your stay very relaxing, including a supply of books, playing cards and puzzles. There is also a TV, DVD and CD players, a ceramic hob and built in oven, a large fridge/freezer, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a BBQ and air conditioning units in the bedrooms and living room. The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights early and late season. There is solar powered hot water or a back-up immersion heater, and a private parking area set just next to the villa.

Villa Argo has many outside areas for sitting in sun or shade and enjoying the special views. There is a covered front terrace which is equipped with 2 marble coffee tables and is a cool and private place to sit even in the height of the hot summers that Crete is famous for. For al-fresco dining whilst taking in the scenery, next to the front terrace is a gravelled front and side garden which has a large dining table, sun umbrella and chairs for 6 persons. Lining this garden area are flower beds which are planted with bougainvillea, bottlebrush plants, lavender, hibiscus, palms and plum and lemon trees. The upstairs roof/sun terrace is fully tiled and is equipped with a marble dining table and director’s chairs and sun-loungers. The panoramic views from the roof terrace also include the White Mountains which are most beautiful when they are snow capped in the winter and spring.

Villa Argo is an ideal retreat for those looking for excellent value accommodation in a sleepy hamlet with a rural setting and beautiful views, yet close to a seaside village with a sandy beach and many amenities.

Location

Aspro is a tiny hamlet made up of a central group of traditional houses that feature grape vine covered courtyards, and a few newer villas on the wooded outskirts that lead to many quiet walking trails. The lovely village of Almyrida is only 1.65km from Villa Argo, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license and the Villas Crete Holidays tourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. A few minutes by car from Villa Argo, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio , lace makers in Gavalohori , and silk makers in Kalamitsi . For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.
