We are very pleased to be the exclusive agents for The Aegean Blue Villa which is finished and furnished to a very high standard. The English owners have created an incredibly elegant home which far surpasses the average holiday villa. No expense has been spared to ensure that you have a relaxing and comfortable holiday. There are many modern comforts including a fully fitted, very well equipped kitchen which includes matching stainless steel appliances such as: a ceramic hob, a built-in oven, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, and a CD player; fully tiled bathrooms, one of which houses the washing machine; satellite TV, and a DVD player in the lounge; mosquito screens, Mediterranean blue aluminium doors, window frames, and shutters; and air conditioning units in the bedrooms and living room. The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights at the start and end of the season. The water is heated either by solar panel or a back-up immersion heater. A hairdryer and a selection of books and DVD’s have been thoughtfully supplied. The furnishings in the villa are particularly attractive and romantic with natural pine beds made at the workshop of a local craftsman, cream coloured French Provincial style furniture which has been delicately hand painted with floral motifs by skilled artists, comfortable cream couches, bedspreads made from pale gold taffeta, matching pale gold silk lampshades, marble table tops, and marble busts of Afrodite and Apollo. There are beautiful flower arrangements and scented candles throughout the villa to complete the pretty setting. This charming villa offers stunning views, beautiful furnishings, and a convenient location close to the beach and amenities – what more could you ask for! Accommodation. The lounge area has 2 comfortable cream coloured fabric couches and matching cushions with gold trim, a beech coffee table with a cream marble top, a side table with an amber lamp and matching glass dish, a wall clock, a chest drawers, a flat screen satellite TV and DVD player and cream curtains with tie-backs. The downstairs double bedroom has a carved pine double bed, a built-in light oak wardrobe with hanging space and drawers, a gilt-edged wall mirror, and cream curtains with tie-backs. There is a set of double sliding doors that open out to the bougainvillea covered dining and BBQ area. The downstairs shower room is located next to the double bedroom and is fully tiled with beige and cream mottled tiles. There is a shower cubicle with a sliding door, a white washbasin, a mirror and glass shelf, a toilet, a frosted window and a washing machine. The stairway and upstairs landing have 2 windows created by frosted clear and blue glass bricks. On the window sills sit marble busts of Apollo and Afrodite. First floor (17 steps up from the ground floor): 1 double bedroom, 1 single/twin bedroom, 1 full bathroom and a large open sea and mountain facing terrace. The first upstairs double bedroom has a carved pine double bed, built-in light oak wardrobes with hanging space and drawers, a bed side table with a gilt lamp with a silk lampshade, a hand painted wall mirror with a matching desk/dressing table, and cream curtains with tie-backs. A window to the east looks out to the next door villa and the bay. There is a set of double sliding doors that open out onto a large covered balcony (that is shared with the second upstairs double bedroom), has panoramic views of Souda Bay, Kera Beach and the White Mountains and is equipped with a glass topped dining table and 6 comfortable chairs. The second double upstairs bedroom is furnished almost identically to the first upstairs bedroom with the exception of having a large wall mirror with a stool in place of the desk. The main bathroom has beige and cream tiles, a small hand painted chest of drawers, and a white bathroom suite comprising a full bath with shower attachment, a wash basin, a mirror and a glass shelf, a toilet and a frosted window. LocationThe beach at Kera is only 475 metres from the villa. It is a quiet beach as there are no sun-beds or cafes here therefore it is ideal for picnics. The water is shallow and there is a choice of pebbles or sand. The lovely village of Almyrida is only 800m walk down a dirt track from The Aegean Blue Villa, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license, and the Villas Crete Holidays Tourist Office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. The village of Kalives is 3km away and has long been a popular destination for holiday makers seeking a typically Greek seaside resort that has many amenities but is far removed from brash tourism. Kalives stretches along 4 kilometres of sandy beaches, and the narrow main street is lined with old white washed houses. Two rivers run join the sea at Kalives , and there is a traditional fishing boat harbour at the eastern end of the village. There is an abundance of excellent tavernas and cafes lining the seafront, and there are shops of every description. A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio , lace makers in Gavalohori , and silk makers in Kalamitsi . For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car. Villa amenities

F.A.QAny steps? How many? The parking area, outside dining and BBQ area, and the outside lounge area are on the same level as the villa and there are no steps, 5 steps from the villa to the pool terrace, 4 steps from the BBQ area to the pool terrace, 17 steps to the upper floor – this house is suitable for the elderly or disabled if they stay in the downstairs double bedroom. How private? Not particularly private. The pool terrace can partially be seen by the villa garden area of the villa set just below, and by the villas to the right, though these are all holiday homes and seldom occupied. Nearest neighbour? Below and either side of the villa. Kera Beach, Almyrida and Kalives are within walking distance, and there is a limited bus service from Almyrida and Kalives into Chania , but we recommend car hire in order to explore the varied regions of the area. |
