Villa Milo is ideally located for those who would like to stay in a peaceful rural location close to the sea. Set on the outskirts of the small hillside hamlet of Aspro, this newly built villa has been finished to high standard whilst incorporating modern comforts with traditional pergolas and natural stone walls. Despite the acres of unspoilt woodland with many walking trails that surround the village, Villa Milo is only 1.6kms inland from the pretty resort of Almyrida which has a good variety of beach front tavernas, cafes and shops, as well as 3 sandy beaches and a small fishing harbour.

There are a number of balconies and terraces at Villa Milo with a choice of sun and shade. The views from the villa capture the few traditional houses in Aspro (some of which date from Venetian times), Souda Bay and the Akrotiri Peninsula, Almyrida village, the surrounding hillsides that are forested with olive, pine and carob trees, and the stunning White Mountains to the south. The pool terrace has been screened to ensure privacy whilst still retaining the lovely views. Adjacent to the house and set just below the pool terrace is a dining area which is ideal for al-fresco dining as it has a barbeque, a dining table and chairs for 6. Outside relaxation continues under the stars on the warm summer evenings that Crete is famous for. Lights twinkle in the distance from the Akrotiri Peninsula, the old village and from the ferries in Souda Bay that are setting off on their nightly journey to Athens.

Villa Milo has been carefully decorated inside and out using the seaside colours of blue and sandy beige. The villa itself is surrounded by natural walls made from local stone which the Cretans say “tans” as it comes out of the ground white but then turns to a sand colour in the sun. The wooden pergolas and screens, as well as the aluminium doors, windows, mosquito screens, and shutters are Mediterranean blue. All modern comforts have been provided for such as a TV with a satellite box, DVD and CD players, and air conditioning units in all the bedrooms and the living room. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season there are portable oil-filled radiators and the a/c units also double up as heaters. The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater. The modern kitchen has built-in beech cabinets and high quality stainless steel appliances including a ceramic hob and built-in oven, a cooker hood, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster.

Villa Milo is positioned on the corner plot of a small cul-de-sac with just a few exclusive villas, including Sophia’s House and Villa Argo which we also handle. Villa Milo will appeal to those wanting a peaceful escape from the crowds with amenities only a short distance away by car.

Location

The lovely village of Almyrida is only 1.6km from Villa Milo, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license, and the Villas Certe Holidays Tourist Office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. A few minutes by car from Villa Milo, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.
