The Isadora Apartments are situated on a cliff top directly above Almyrida’s pretty fishing harbour and sandy beaches. Recently renovated and re-furbished, the Isadora Apartments offer well priced accommodation of a very good standard with the most amazing panoramic views over the seaside village of Almyrida and the turquoise waters of Souda Bay to the Akrotiri Peninsula, Aptera Castle, and The White Mountains, which are snow-capped for 6 months of the year. Despite being only 5 minutes walk from the excellent amenities in the village, Isadora Apartments are surrounded by quiet private grounds that feature a traditional well and have been planted with mature olive trees and many colourful flowers and shrubs including oleander, hibiscus, mesembryanthum, geraniums, and bottle brush plants. The outdoor seating area has wooden benches under shady olive trees and is the ideal place to relax and read a book on a hot summer’s day, or simply enjoy the beautiful sea and mountain views. Ample off road private parking is available at the Isadora Apartments. Each apartment features a sunny balcony which faces west to infinite sea and mountain views and gorgeous sunsets. The individual balconies are equipped with a table and chairs so that you can enjoy a leisurely drink or meal at any time whilst taking in the views, or watching the sail boats and windsurfers in the bay during the day, or the twinkling lights from the ferries on their way to Athens at night. The apartments are fully air-conditioned throughout so that you can stay cool during the long hot Cretan summers, and the a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights early and late season. Since the recent renovations a number of modern comforts have been added to the Isadora Apartments. White aluminium windows, doors and shutters, fully tiled shower rooms, built-in wardrobes and kitchen cabinets (which are painted a pretty peach colour in the downstairs apartments and a fresh white in the upstairs 3 bedroom apartment), TV’s, diaphanous curtains in pastel colours, a fridge, an electric kettle and cooking rings (or full –size cooker) are all now standard. The upstairs apartment also features a washing machine. The water is heated by solar panels or for the occasional cloudy days early or late season there is a back-up immersion heater. There are only 5 apartments here, 2 of which are studios which have lockable inter-connecting doors for those guests who would like to book them together for extra space. The wonderful upstairs apartment is light and airy and has a full modern kitchen which includes work surface and breakfast bar with a black and grey marble effect top, and elegant dark wood and metal furniture in 2 of the bedrooms. Apartments 1, 2 and 3 have front doors that lead out onto a covered patio area which has flowerbeds and is furnished with a table and chairs. For a relaxing and quiet seaside location with unrivalled views and easy access by foot to the beach and village amenities, Villa Isadora is ideal. Accommodation. The separate kitchenette has a frosted window, 2 double cabinets, a fridge, cooking rings and an electric kettle. The shower room is fully tiled with pretty sand coloured tiles and has a shower, a toilet, a washbasin, a mirror with a glass shelf and a spotlight. Apartment 2: (ground floor, 0 steps): Studio with double bed, kitchenette, 1 shower room. The front door opens into the living room, dining area and kitchen. The brand new kitchen has many built-in white cupboards, a tall fridge/freezer, a cooker and cooker hood, a coffee maker, an electric kettle and a window which looks out to the mature oleander bushes at the rear of the property. The dining area/living room has a black marble effect breakfast bar, 4 black metal and wicker chairs, a side table, a TV, and a set of double sliding doors which open out on to a sea-facing balcony which has a brown wicker dining table and 4 comfortable brown wicker chairs. A long hall way leads to the bedrooms, shower room and cloak room. You can lie in bed and look at the fabulous view of the bay from this bedroom. The cloak room is the same as the shower room but without the shower and washing machine. The 2nd twin bedroom is at the far end of the hallway is furnished with traditional light wood furniture that is made at the workshop of a local craftsman. This bedroom has 2 single beds, 1 bedside cabinet, 1 green glass reading lamp, mint-green diaphanous curtains, A/C, and a window that looks out to the mature oleander bushes at the rear of the property. LocationThe centre of the village of Almyrida is only 350m from Isadora Apartments, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 10 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, and an off-license. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans, and the Villas Crete Holidays tourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles. For a change of pace, a 15 minute walk uphill (or 10 minutes downhill!) will take you to the main square in the neighbouring village of Plaka. There are lovely shady mulberry trees under which the locals sit to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a delicious meal or even just an ice cold frappe. Plaka was one of the original village sets for the film “Zorba the Greek” and it still has quaint whitewashed houses and narrow streets leading off from the square. A few minutes by car from the Isadora Apartments, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car. Villa amenities

F.A.QAny steps? How many? Apartment Number 2 has 3 steps from the parking area to the front door. Apartment number 3 has 4 steps from the parking area to the front door and 18 steps from the front door to the living area. How private? The large balcony/terrace areas for both apartments can only be partially seen from the apartments to the right, and from the garden area. Nearest neighbour? The above (No 3) or below (No 2) apartment. Almyrida beach and facilities are within easy walking distance, and there is a limited bus service into Chania, but we recommend car hire in order to explore the varied regions of the area. |
