The property has a natural stone wall along one side to ensure privacy from the one neighbouring villa, and land that drops away below the villa and garden on the other three sides. The private gravelled driveway has colourful flower beds and rockeries on either side, as does the main terrace outside the kitchen area and next to the pool. The garden is planted with a number of olive trees as well as many plants which include: hibiscus, mesembryanthemum flowering ground cover, bougainvillea, oleander, cacti, lavender, purple daisies and blue cupidone daisies. The piano shaped infinity pool has wonderful views and is set just below the lounge terrace. There is plenty of outdoor furniture including sun-beds, umbrellas, director chairs and a dining table. All in all, Villa Aspro is the perfect place for either couples or families to enjoy stunning views whilst relaxing in privacy, yet remaining only a short drive from the beach, and many local tavernas and amenities. Accommodation. Ground floor: Open plan living room, kitchen and dining area, 1 half bathroom, 2 large sea facing terraces. From the front door you enter the lounge which is furnished with 2 sofas with navy blue fabric, a coffee table, side board, side table with a DVD player, and a 21” satellite TV, a bookcase, and a wall mirror. There are double doors that lead out onto the terrace (down one step) which over looks the pool, and has wonderful views. The lounge also has 2 windows, one of which faces east to a pine tree clad hill, the other faces south to a neighbouring villa and hills. The focal point of the lounge is the fireplace. Through an archway and up 2 steps from the lounge, there is the half bathroom/washroom and kitchen/dining area. The washroom has a toilet, washbasin, mirror, and a frosted window. The large modern, fully equipped kitchen/dining area has white cupboards, small mosaic wall tiles, wooden work tops, breakfast bar, and Zanussi appliances including a ceramic hob and built in oven, a large fridge/ freezer, a microwave oven, and a washing machine. The kitchen has a window which faces south west to a natural stone wall, bougainvillea, and the White Mountains. The dining area has a blue/green wood dining table with a white marble top, and 6 chairs. The dining area has a south west facing window, an east facing window, and double doors which lead out onto a semi covered terrace which is set just above the pool. This terrace has great views, a table and director chairs. First floor (15 steps up from the ground floor living room): a long L-shaped landing, 1 master double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a large sea and mountain facing balcony (up 2 steps from the main staircase) 2 twin bedrooms, and 1 bathroom. The master double bedroom has a double bed, 2 bedside tables with 2 reading lamps, a dressing table, mirror and stool, a chair and white built-in floor to ceiling wardrobes. There are double doors which lead out onto a terrace which has panoramic views over the pool to the entire area. The master bedroom also has a south west facing window, and an east facing window. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, toilet, washbasin, mirror, and frosted window. Along the landing, and around the corner from the master suite, there are 2 more bedrooms. Both of these bedrooms have sliding doors which open out to juliet balconies and the fabulous views of the sea and mountains. The 2nd double bedroom has a double bed, 2 bedside tables and 2 reading lamps, a dressing table, mirror and stool, and white built-in wardrobes. The twin bedroom has 2 single beds, 2 bedside tables 2 reading lamps, a dressing table, mirror and stool, and white built-in wardrobes. The main bathroom has floor to ceiling blue and white tiles, a tiled bath with shower attachment, a white toilet, washbasin, mirror, and a window which overlooks a lovely pine tree clad hill. LocationXirosterni is a sleepy hamlet that has a village centre which comprises a cluster of stone houses and a kafenion. The village is famous for its festival on August 5th, to which everyone is invited. Just 2 kilometres away is Vamos, which is a very pretty village with narrow streets and stone houses, and is an ideal starting point for hikes to the surrounding hills. To the south-east of the village, in the Karydi area, one can see the monastery of Agios Giorgos. The ruins of the church’s cells and the old oil-press, with its wonderful domes, remain standing to the present day. Vamos has a large number of amenities including a bank, 2 petrol stations, 2 wonderful tavernas, 2 souvlaki shops, a handful of cafes, a post office, bakery, hairdresser, and a number of gift shops and mini-markets. Xirosterni is also a short 5 minute drive from the traditional village of Gavalohori. Five hundred metres from the village, you can see several renowned Venetian wells built on a landscape of rare beauty. In Gavalohori there are 3 good tavernas, a bakery, mini market, a lovely folklore museum and a women’s co-operative which has developed the fine art of handicrafts such as knitting, embroidery and lace making. The lovely village of Almyrida, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, 2 wonderful jewellery shops, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, The Villas Crete Holidays tourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles, and an off-license. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers, catamarans, and mountain bikes. A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 45 minutes away by car. Villa amenities

How private? A few lower houses are built in the conifer trees well below the villa. The pool terrace is therefore private. Nearest neighbour? Next door to the right, but completely screened off by a natural stone wall. Views? Gorgeous views across acres of pine and olive trees to Souda Bay, the Akrotiri Peninsula and Aptera Fort. Views to the East over pine trees to Kefalas. Also fabulous views to south of the White Mountains. |
