Superbly appointed, the top floor has a large open-plan living room and dining area with floor to ceiling glass doors lining one side to give a bright and airy atmosphere. Archways at opposite ends of the living room lead through to the kitchen that is equipped with every possible modern appliance, and a shower room and a small double bedroom. All of the top floor rooms have doors that open out onto a large dining terrace that overlooks the pool terrace and acres of olive trees to the sea and mountains. Colourful, high quality fabrics have been used throughout the villa for the handmade bed covers and window treatments. The middle floor houses a twin bedroom, a double bedroom, a shower room, and the master suite which has a wonderful en-suite bathroom which includes a Jacuzzi bath with marble steps and hydro massage jets. Every possible modern comfort has been provided at The Eagle’s Nest Villa including independent central air conditioning/heating in every room, mosquito screens, aluminium doors, windows and shutters, back-up water storage tanks, water heated by solar panel and immersion heater, 2 hi-fi systems with CD and MP3 player, and a fireplace. Each bedroom is sea facing and has it’s own LCD TV, DVD player, and Nova Satellite TV box, and the living room and play room each have a large Plasma TV, also equipped with a DVD player and Nova satellite TV. The thoughtful owner, Giorgos, has carefully designed The Eagle’s Nest Villa with one aim in mind – complete relaxation and happiness for all of his guests. Children and the more active members of the family will be enchanted by the games room and gym on the ground floor of the villa. The games room features a pool table, tennis table, table football, a darts board, X-Box 360, plasma TV, mini kitchen, and 2 sofa beds, whilst the gym is equipped with everything from a weight machine, rowing machine, step machine, and running machine to yoga mats. A fully tiled shower room and a cupboard with safety deposit boxes complete the ground floor layout. Competing for attention are the 4000m2 of immaculate grounds that have been landscaped using local stone for the attractive walls with nook details, a fountain, a waterfall, and raised flowerbeds planted with oleander, hibiscus, geraniums and South African daisies. Surrounded by olive groves and set within an electric gate and attractive stone walls, privacy is ensured. The lower terrace features a covered parking area, fountain, shrine, and a tennis court that can also be utilised for basketball and volley ball. The pool on the middle terrace boasts a separate shallow children’s area, 2 outside showers, and, very unusually for Crete can be heated for an extra charge at the start and end of the season. Next to the pool is a lush lawn that is flanked on one side by a pergola covered outside eating area with a stone barbeque and bread oven, and a waterfall cascading down a stone wall on the other. The upper level is a delight for toddlers and small children, with a swing set, a see-saw, and a slide/small house, set on a soft grassy area. The pool, dining area, waterfall, and tennis court are dramatically lit at night to create a very romantic atmosphere. The sea and mountain views are quite lovely from the pool area but without a doubt the breathtaking 360 degree vista from the comfortably furnished roof terrace is unrivalled, particularly at sunset. Whether you wish to simply chill out with a book next to the pool, take a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi, barbeque at home, stroll to a beachfront taverna for a freshly caught fish meal, explore the area on the villa’s mountain bikes, or work off the delicious Greek food playing tennis, the Eagle’s Nest Villa provides a luxurious and beautiful setting from which to do so. ** Accommodation. LocationThe lovely village of Almyrida is only from 800m from The Eagle’s Nest Villa, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license, a pharmacy, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information and excursions. Also in Almyrida there is a scuba diving office, and awater sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. The village of Kalives is 3km away and has long been a popular destination for holiday makers seeking a typically Greek seaside resort that has many amenities but is far removed from brash tourism. Kalives stretches along 4 kilometres of sandy beaches, and the narrow main street is lined with old white washed houses. Two rivers run join the sea at Kalives, and there is a traditional fishing boat harbour at the eastern end of the village. There is an abundance of excellent tavernas and cafes lining the seafront, and there are shops of every description. A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 30 minutes away by car. Villa amenities
