2 apartments each with 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom. Each apartment sleeps a maximum of 5 persons. Whilst the majority of our properties are villas with pools, we could not overlook the Dina Apartments as they are such great value with the best location and views in the village. Perched on the top of a cliff overlooking the pretty village and harbour of Almyrida, the Dina Apartments have spectacular views of Souda Bay, the 17th Century Turkish Fort at Aptera, The Akrotiri Peninsular, olive clad hills and The White Mountains. Just 4 minutes walk from the beach and many excellent tavernas, cafes and shops, these apartments are a favourite for those wanting to stay just above a beach in simple but spacious and comfortable accommodation with absolutely the best views in the area. The apartments have been designed so that open-plan living area and the large semi-covered front terraces take in the stunning views. The terraces have a choice of sun or shade and have each been equipped with a dining table and comfortable director’s chairs. The lovely shared garden has a large grassed area, flowerbeds with roses and geraniums, olive trees, and large mature date palms which give a lot of shade and are perfect for relaxing under with a book on a hot summer’s day. The garden also enjoys the incredible views, is equipped with a table, chairs and a swing seat, and gives a birds-eye view of everything that is going on at the beach, the harbour and in the village below. Between the two buildings which comprise the Dina Apartments is a side garden which has a flowerbed and a mass of pots which are planted with geraniums, hibiscus, roses, vines and a large lemon tree. The charming and friendly owners, Poppy and Vasillis, live unobtrusively in the next door building, but are on-hand should you require assistance. Fully tiled throughout, and with white aluminium doors and windows, and air conditioning units in the bedrooms, the apartments can easily handle the long hot summers that we have on Crete . The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights early and late season. The furniture in the apartments was all made locally at the workshop of a local craftsman and is made from a honey brown wood, as are the large breakfast bars, kitchen cabinets and built-in wardrobes that were made to match. Each spacious apartment comprises an entire floor of the building, with No. 2 being just above ground level (though high above everything else below), and No.3 being on the top floor. The Dina Apartments are located just in front of Villas Helios and Thalassa, Accommodation. Apartment 3: (4 steps from the parking area to the front door, plus 18 steps from the front door): Open plan living room, kitchen and dining area, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 shower room. LocationThe centre of the village of Almyrida is only 350m from Dina’s Apartments, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, 1 clothes shop, and an off-license. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans, and the Villas Crete Holidays trourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles. For a change of pace, a 15 minute walk uphill (or 10 minutes downhill!) will take you to the main square in the neighbouring village of Plaka . There are lovely shady mulberry trees under which the locals sit to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a delicious meal or even just an ice cold frappe. Plaka was one of the original village sets for the film “Zorba the Greek” and it still has quaint whitewashed houses and narrow streets leading off from the square. A few minutes by car from Simon’s House, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio , lace makers in Gavalohori , and silk makers in Kalamitsi . For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car. Apartments amenities
