Sleeps a maximum of 5 persons. The villa has been designed in order to maximise the outdoor living area, and therefore has terraces and balconies with a choice of sun or shade. All around the villa is a natural stone wall topped with either iron railings or wood fencing. In front of the villa is a pool terrace which has lovely sandy coloured non-slip crazy paving, sun-beds and umbrellas. To the left of the pool terrace is a grassed area, and dotted around the pool and villa are 3 flowerbeds and a number of Greek clay pots that have been planted with roses, palms, yuccas, and geraniums. The villa is a pretty peach colour with white aluminium doors, windows and shutters. Through an archway overlooking the pool, is the south-west facing covered front terrace which has a marble table and 4 chairs. At the rear of the villa there is a large BBQ made from natural stone and brick. The Greek owners have furnished the villa throughout in a modern Cretan style with matching wood furniture, and brightly coloured curtains and bedspreads. The bathroom and shower room are finished to a very high standard with beautiful tiles. All modern comforts have been provided for at Villa Lydia including a TV, DVD and CD players, a washing machine, and air conditioning units in all the bedrooms and the living room. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season there is a fireplace in the lounge, and the a/c units also double up as heaters. The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater. Villa Lydia, and its sister, Villa Alexandra are perfect for either families or couples who like to be independent but not reliant on a car for getting around. The two villas can be booked together by large groups or families who would like to be near to each other yet value their privacy. These villas are ideal for those of you who would like to have a drink with your meals out and not have to worry about driving home! Accommodation. LocationThe heart of the village of Almyrida is only 250m from Villa Lydia, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license, and the Villas Crete Holidays tourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. A few minutes by car from Villa Lydia, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio , lace makers in Gavalohori , and silk makers in Kalamitsi . For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car. Villa amenities

F.A.QAny steps? How many? 3 step from house to the pool terrace or parking area, 17 steps to the upper floor. How private? Not very private as the villa is located in the village. The pool can be seen by the neighbouring villas. Nearest neighbour? Villa Alexandra– to the left hand side, 1 villa to the rightand the back of some maisonnettes which are situated behind Villa Lydia. Almyrida beach and facilities are within easy walking distance, and there is a limited bus service into Chania , but we recommend car hire in order to explore the varied regions of the area. |
