Villa Alexandra is a modern villa set just 4 minutes flat walk from the sandy beach, and excellent tavernas and shops in the village of Almyrida. This villa represents excellent value for money and books up early. Set next to an olive grove on the corner plot of a small group of villas, despite its village location, Villa Alexandra has lovely views of The White Mountains and the olive clad hillsides that surround Almyrida.
The villa has been designed in order to maximise the outdoor living area, and therefore has terraces and balconies with a choice of sun or shade. In front of the villa is a pool terrace which has lovely sandy coloured non-slip crazy paving, sun-loungers and umbrellas. All around the pool terrace and the villa are a large number of traditional clay pots and flowerbeds that have been planted with conifers, roses, palms, purple solanum, and a mandarin tree. The villa is a pretty pale yellow colour with white aluminium doors, windows and shutters. Under a covered archway, next to a flowerbed of mature roses, is the south facing front terrace which has a wooden bench, a table and 4 director's chairs. This terrace leads around to the shady east side of the villa, which is covered by a pergola and has a sink and a large BBQ made from natural stone and brick. The BBQ terrace has a wooden table and bench, and is next to a mature fig tree. For the younger members of the family, on the west side of the villa there is a swing and a see-saw to play on.
The lovely Greek owners, Spiros and Christina, have furnished the villa throughout with matching furniture made from the same warm coloured wood as the built-in wardrobes, kitchen cupboards, bathroom cabinets, and doors. The bathroom and shower room are finished to a very high standard with beautiful pale terracotta and light peach tiles. All modern comforts have been provided for at Villa Alexandra including a TV, DVD and CD players, a dishwasher a washing machine, and air conditioning units in all the bedrooms and the living room. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season there is a fireplace in the lounge, and the a/c units also double up as heaters. The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater.
Villa Alexandra, and its sister, Villa Lydia are perfect for either families or couples who like to be independent but not tied to a car for getting around. The two villas can be booked together by large groups or families who would like to be near to each other yet value their privacy. These villas are ideal for those of you who would like to have a drink with your meals out and not have to worry about driving home!

The heart of the village of Almyrida is only 250m from Villa Alexandra, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 cafe/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, and an off-license. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans, and the Villas Crete Holidays tourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles. A few minutes by car from Villa Alexandra, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio , lace makers in Gavalohori , and silk makers in Kalamitsi . For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.

Any steps? How many? 1 step from the house to the pool terrace, BBQ area or parking area, 17 steps to the upper floor.
How private? Not very private as the villa is located in the village. The pool can be seen by some maisonettes, Villa Lydia , and 3 other villas.
Nearest neighbour? Villa Lydia opposite, some maisonettes next door to the left and 1 villa next door to the right. Almyrida beach and facilities are within easy walking distance, and there is a limited bus service into Chania , but we recommend car hire in order to explore the varied regions of the area.
