The villa was built and finished to very high standard by its very welcoming owners, Christina and Stavros. Always warm, but never intrusive, they are the epitome of Greek hospitality. Despite being only 3 minutes by foot to the shops and excellent tavernas on the main square in Plaka, Villa Christina has the feel of a more rural location due in part to the mature garden and high hedge which surround the villa and large swimming pool. All around the property are flowerbeds which have been planted with a variety of different plants including roses, geraniums, bougainvillea, morning glory, oleander and gerber daisies. There is a lawn with BBQ and a large area of pampus grass, and there are many trees including, conifers, palms, yucca and almond. Just next to the pool terrace is a large shady carob tree with a table and chairs which is the perfect place to relax on a hot summer’s day.

With only one close neighbour (with a high wall), Villa Elsa affords an excellent degree of privacy to its guests, and yet is still within walking distance of the excellent local tavernas, shops and beaches. It is very rare to find a pool on Crete that has any form of heating, which is a huge plus at the start and end of the season when the pools can be a little chilly. Guests at Villa Elsa are very fortunate to find that the larger than average swimming pool is heated to a minimum of 26 degrees (for an extra fee) and is therefore suited for swimming later and earlier in the season.

Located on the outskirts of the sleepy hamlet of Maza, Horseshoe Cottage is a delightful stone retreat with glorious sweeping views across the verdant Cretan landscape to the magnificent White Mountains.  A property with immense character and allure, Horseshoe Cottage, and its 2 sister villas, has been lovingly built and furnished by its incredibly friendly and charming owner, Giorgos, on land passed down to him by his grandfather. The 5500m2 plot has been creatively landscaped so that all 3 villas harmonise with the enchanting natural landscape, and each villa enjoys a high standard of privacy and comfort. As the name of the cottage suggests, a stables and paddock are set on one side of the plot and horse/pony riding excursions can be arranged. Thanks to this superb location, which affords both privacy and easy access by foot to the taverna and mini market in the village centre, Villa Keramika enjoys dramatic panoramic views of Souda Bay, The Akrotiri Peninsula, olive groves, Kokkino Horio village and The White Mountains. This charming villa has been designed so that your living area extends to the outdoors with a number of different terraces and balconies all of which take in the wonderful views and glorious sunsets, and with a choice of sun or shade. It is only broken by the early morning jingle of bells, as Stratos, the neighbouring farmer, herds his goats and sheep up onto the eastern hillside to graze.
