Villa Anais is a charming stone villa that is dramatically perched on the top of a hill with absolutely spectacular views of Souda Bay, the Akrotiri Peninsula, The White Mountains and the beach village of Almyrida . The clever design of the villa ensures that all of the bedrooms and the living area lead out onto the balconies and terraces which take in these breathtaking views, with a choice of sun or shade. The elevated position ensures that the villa is often blessed in the summer by cooling breezes that come in off the sea. At night-time, the villa and pool terrace are romantically illuminated and the lights of passing fishing boats and the evening ferry on its way to Athens twinkle from the bay. This beautiful rural setting belies the fact that Villa Anais is only 1km from the wonderful sandy beaches which hold the coveted blue flag for cleanliness, a good choice of amenities and shops, and the pretty seaside tavernas and cafes in Almyrida.

The thoughtful French owners have spent a considerable amount of time creating a very attractive and comfortable home with stylish furnishings. In order to make your stay at Villa Anais completely stress free, traditional features such as honey-blonde stone walls, pillars and arches, and beamed ceilings, pergolas, doors and windows made from fragrant local cypress wood, blend effortlessly with every possible modern comfort including: a fully fitted kitchen with stainless steel appliances such as a ceramic hob, built-in oven, a large fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, a kettle, a coffee maker, and a toaster: fully tiled bathrooms (one equipped with a washing machine); free WIFI internet access, satellite TV, DVD player, and mosquito screens and air-conditioning units in the bedrooms. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season the a/c units double up as heaters and there is a fire place and full central heating (though heating oil is not included in the rental price).

Despite the villa’s beautiful and cool interiors, you will probably want to spend most of your time relaxing outside on one of the outdoor balconies, or on the pool terrace whilst taking in the panoramic sea views. The main terrace is dominated by the infinity pool and a poolside cabana that features a kitchenette and a traditional barbeque that is sure to be the centre of culinary activity for al-fresco dining. Long hot summer days spent relaxing in the sun and cooling off in the pool conclude perfectly with glorious sunsets, a glass of chilled wine from the nearby winery, and the delightful aroma of freshly caught fish sizzling away on the barbeque. As a very welcome optional extra for the times at the start and end of the season when the water in the pool can be chilly, the owners have recently installed a heat pump to heat the water in the pool to (usually) a minimum of 26 degrees centigrade (though this will depend upon the weather and it may be lower during the night and first thing in the morning). The 1000m2 property has been landscaped around the villa to provide ample private parking, whilst the rest of the property has been left completely natural with rocks, olive, carob and almond trees. A small selection of flowerbeds have been planted with colourful oleandar, fragrant lavender, Callistemon (bottlebrush) bushes, mesmembryanthum, cacti, and Washingtonian palms.

As hard as it may be to drag yourselves away from the calming ambience at Villa Anais, the surrounding area has a host of incredible sites. An attractive option for those of you who do not want to cook but would like to have a drink with your evening meal is a leisurely stroll of 1km that brings you to the laid back village of Almyrida which has something for everyone. The whole family will want to window shop at the gift and jewellery shops and then dine on appetizing and very fresh local cuisine whilst sitting next to the crystal clear turquoise sea. The more active members of the family may like to windsurf, kayak, sail, or scuba dive during the day, or stay out late whilst enjoying the delicious cocktails and good music at the local cafes. The walk to the village is downhill on the way there and mostly uphill on the return journey - the views do come at a price but you may not notice if you have had a glass or two with dinner! Some of you may prefer to take a taxi back home but do be aware that they are not a cheap option.

Villa Anais is ideal for those wanting to stay in an enchanting stone villa with unrivalled views and a and a relaxing setting with easy access to beaches, shops and tavernas.

Villa Accommodation

Ground floor (6 steps from the private parking area, 1 step from the pool terrace): Open-plan living room, kitchen and dining room. A covered sea facing dining terrace, a covered side porch. The front door opens from the covered side porch into the open-plan kitchen, dining area and living room. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and includes a dishwasher, a ceramic hob, a built-in fan assist oven, a fridge/freezer, a microwave oven, a coffee maker, a toaster, and a kettle. A door leads out onto the rear parking area, and the kitchen has a window that looks out to the rear parking area and to olive groves, and a window that looks out to the front driveway and to a hillside. An archway leads to the dining room that has a round dining table with a glass top, and comfortable chairs made from dark brown wicker effect material with cream cushions, a hand-painted wooden cabinet, the staircase, and small windows to the front driveway. A second archway leads to the living area which has a marble fireplace, a light blue couch and 2 large matching armchairs, a coffee table, a TV unit with a flat screen TV, a satellite receiver box, and a DVD player, a coffee table with a chess set, 2 directors chairs, windows east to a hillside, and 3 sets of double French doors that open out onto the covered dining terrace which is equipped with a dining table and chairs for 6.

Middle level (8 steps up from the ground floor): 1 double bedroom with open sea and mountain facing balcony, and 1 cloak room with utility area. The utility area has a washing machine and a frosted window, and a door to the cloakroom that has cream tiles, a white washbasin, a mirror, a glass shelf, a toilet, and a frosted window. The double bedroom is equipped with a very pretty queen size (200cm x 150cm) bed made from ornate cream metal with gold flecks, white and silver cushions, 2 cream wood bedside cabinets with reading lamps, and a double wardrobe with hanging space, shelves and drawers. This bedroom has double French doors that lead out onto a private balcony that looks out over the pool terrace to the sea in the north, and to the mountains in the south.

Top floor (10 steps up from the middle level): 1 double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, 1 double bedroom, 1 shower room, and a large wrap around open sea facing balcony. The master bedroom has a black metal large queen size bed (200cm x 160cm), 2 cream wood bedside tables with reading lamps, a wardrobe with shelves, drawers, and hanging space, an en-suite bathroom, and a set of double French doors that open out onto the large wrap-around balcony that faces the hillside on one side and the sea on the other. The en-suite bathroom is fully tiled with blue tiles and has a bathroom suite comprising a full bath with shower attachment, a wash basin, a mirror with a glass shelf and light, a toilet, and a frosted window. The 3rd double bedroom is equipped with an ornate black metal queen size (200cm x 150cm) bed with black and silver cushions - that looks straight out to sea, 2 matching black iron bedside tables with reading lamps, a storage chest, and a double wardrobe with hanging space, shelves and drawers. This bedroom has 2 sets of double French doors that lead out onto the wrap-around balcony that has a variety of views: over the pool terrace to the sea, to the mountains, and to the surrounding hills. The shower room is fully tiled with blue tiles and has a shower stall with a shower curtain, a wash basin, a mirror with a glass shelf and light, a toilet, a white metal shelving unit, and a frosted window.

 

 

Villa Location

The heart of the village of Almyrida is only 1km from Villa Anais, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 13 excellent tavernas, 7 cafés, 2 bars, 2 bakeries, a jewellery shop, 4 mini-markets, 7 gift shops, an off-license, a pharmacy, a butchers shop, 1 Italian ice cream shop, an organic fruit and vegetable shop with a deli counter, a nail spa, a body wellness spa, a hairdresser, a kiosk, and 3 real estate offices.  Also in Almyrida there is an area with pool tables and games machines, a children's play centre, a scuba diving office, a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information, private boat hire, boat trips, big game fishing, horse riding, waterskiing, private sightseeing flights in a light aircraft, and guided walking tours and coach excursions. A few minutes by car from Villa Anais, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio and lace makers in Gavalohori. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.

Villa Rental Prices

The following prices are shown in EURO for the Villa with 1 bedroom for up to 2 persons or for 3 bedrooms for up to 6 persons. The villa is only rented with 3 bedrooms from July 01 - August 31.

Pool Heating is included in the rental price during April, May, June, September, and October. The pool temperature can be affected by the weather but the pool will generally be heated to a minimum of 26 degrees centigrade except during the night and first thing in the morning (or in the likely event of unseasonable rain).
