Villa Almarine is so close to the sea you can practically taste the salt! The only property of its kind in the northern coastal village of Almyrida, this villa contains two fully equipped self-contained apartments and is just steps from the translucent Aegean Sea. Encased in emerald lawns and shadowed by the imposing White Mountains, this spacious and versatile partial sea-view villa -- which is rented in its entirety -- sits at the lip of a short winding lane that expediently leads to a lovely horseshoe-shaped beach rimmed with charming tavernas, open-air cafes and bars and a selection of curio and convenience shops. Its distinctive “separate but equal” layout affords the unique opportunity for friends, single families, or two families vacationing together to enjoy a shared experience while maintaining privacy - making it a very popular choice for groups seeking independent living quarters in a communal environment.

Set on an expansive 2000 square meter plot laced with leafy grapevines, vibrant trellis-entwined rose bushes, lemon and ficus trees, its 40 square meter swimming pool is embroidered by a wood effect tiled patio laden with sun beds and umbrellas, picturesque peaks looming in distant grandeur. A large cypress wood vaulted ceiling cabana features a brick barbecue and a wood burning pizza/bread oven alongside a ten person dining table while the wraparound decks and wide balconies that skirt the home’s bi-level perimeter further encourage many hours of outdoor leisure.

Fully enveloped by a stone wall, an iron-hewn electronic gate unveils a large parking area, whilst the adjacent decorative pedestrian entry gate opens to a grass-flanked stone walkway that precedes the home’s separate entrances. The two bedroom downstairs unit is fronted by a large tiled patio while an twelve step iron-bannistered staircase ascends to the three bedroom top floor apartment which is also bordered by a wide and shady tiled veranda.

Inside, both airy units have wooden ceilings and are gifted with abundant natural light streaming through walls of windows and supplementary back and side doors, open-plan living/dining/kitchen areas, and comfortably-appointed bedrooms. Add to this the duplex home’s gracious outdoor living sectors and bountiful amenities and it’s clear that Villa Almarine exists as a most hospitable and convenient multiple or large family/group accommodation option.

Villa Location

The heart of the village of Almyrida is only 100m from Villa Almarine, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 12 tavernas, a pizzeria/pasta restaurant, 6 cafés, 1 bar, 1 bakery, 4 mini-markets, 7 gift shops, 1 Italian ice cream shop, a pharmacy,  a fruit and vegetable shop with a deli counter, an off license/liquor shop, 1 kiosk, a nail spa, and 4 real estate offices. Also in Almyrida there is paddle board and pedalo rentals, a scuba diving centre, and a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. Other activities in the area include boat trips, private boat hire, big game fishing, Greek cooking classes, private sightseeing flights in a light aircraft, and guided walking tours and coach excursions.  A few minutes by car from the Villa Almarine, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio and a folklore museum in Gavalohori. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.

*** As of January 01, 2024, the Greek government have replaced the old “bed tax” with a new tax that is applied to all stays in short-term rental accommodation in Greece. The Climate Resilience Levy is a response to the devastating forest fires and floods that Greece has experienced in recent years, with the government hoping to generate extra funding that will go towards financing reconstruction, supporting victims, and increasing the country’s defences against future natural disasters.

The owners of all short-term rental accommodation are legally obliged to collect the Climate Resilience Levy as a separate tax for all overnight stays (per villa) as follows:
€10.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29.

We will collect the Climate Levy with your final balance payment and it will be clearly itemised on your Booking Confirmation.

Whilst we understand the potential budget concerns of our guests, this tax/levy is beyond our control and we encourage our guests to see this as a way of contributing to the protection of the planet and the beautiful area where they are holidaying.
