By far one of the best value holiday rental options in Almyrida, Villa Anastasia is a conveniently located three bedroom bi-level house that sits just 400 meters from the sandy sun-drenched shores of the jeweled Aegean Sea. Set in a quiet and nicely landscaped residential community with two swimming pools, Almyrida’s friendly beachside tavernas, shops, and aquatic activities are all just a hop skip and jump from the detached home’s front door.

Simply yet comfortably furnished, this clean, neat, and cost-effective property is fully kitted with modern amenities that include dishwasher, flat screen TV, free WIFI internet access (up to 1GB in downloads), and washing machine. Luminous rays of ubiquitous sunshine filter through abundant windows and glass paned doors, with a choice of open-air and covered terraces -- some of which boast imposing mountain views – bordering both levels. In addition to providing safe havens for the children to play, these outdoor living spaces are great for an evening barbecue or to take a relaxing break within the welcome embrace of a whispering sea breeze.

The larger of the two swimming pools sits just steps from the house and, like its counterpart around the corner, is pleasingly embroidered by grand date palm trees and a colorful mélange of blooming oleander. Both pools contain shallow child-friendly areas and a deeper end for the adults and teenagers – perfect for a cooling early morning dip, a lazy afternoon with a good book, or a refreshing reprieve after an excursion through Crete’s scenic interior. Guests who have stayed at Villa Anastasia in previous years tell us that (other than their own family members) they are usually alone at the swimming pools.

Villa Anastasia is also within easy walking distance through picturesque country lanes to a handful of recommended dining spots in the quaint village of Plaka. Long stretches of beach and a slew of restaurants and shopping options can additionally be found just a quick drive or taxi ride away in the nearby beach village of Kalives. To enhance your holiday experience, we can also arrange island tours, rental cars, hiking or boating expeditions.

Villa Accommodation

Ground floor (0 steps from the front entrance patio and parking, 6 steps from the rear entrance, pool and parking area): Open plan living room/dining area/kitchen, 1 twin bedroom, a half bathroom/cloak room. A tiled front patio precedes entrance into an open-plan living/dining/kitchen area that is underlined by textured cream-colored tiles and ringed by windows and glass doors. An oval dining table with six chairs separates a fully equipped kitchen from the living room which is anchored by an off-white patterned L-shaped sofa with blue accent pillows, coffee table, and wall-mounted flat screen TV under which a wood shelf holds a DVD player. Matching curtains veil a partial pool/foliage view through living room windows with an adjacent set of glass doors leading to a back terrace with barbecue and teak dining table/chairs. Another set of patio doors just beyond the front door open to a side terrace. The kitchen to the left is kitted with refrigerator, an electric cooker, a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, and coffee maker. Brown wood-grained cabinets hold an ample selection of dishware and culinary tools. A window hovers over the sink and a back door through kitchen also opens to the back terrace. A twin bedroom with two single wood/iron-framed single beds leads off the living room and further contains a mirrored wardrobe, two wood grained/canvas bedside drawers with lamps, and decorative ceiling light fixture. Light streams through a window perched above the beds which looks out to the rear stone wall and the next door house. Beside the bedroom, a half bathroom tiled in taupe/white and brick-hued ceramic features a toilet, sink, mirrored vanity, and frosted window.

First floor (17 steps up from the ground floor): 1 double bedroom, 1 single bedroom, 1 full bathroom, 2 terraces. A 17 step semi-circular staircase with mirrored window leads to a small landing from which has doors to two additional bedrooms and a full bathroom. To the right, an airy Master bedroom boasts a black metal-framed Queen-sized bed flanked by two brown wood/canvas night stands topped by a pair of reading lamps, coordinating mirrored wooden wardrobe, and ceiling lamp. A pool-view window sits beside the bed while a set of French doors open to a large tiled patio (with table and chairs) from which mountain views loom beyond the pool and a landscape of rooftops. Adjacent to the Master, the home’s third bedroom is centered by a black-painted metal head-boarded single bed that is edged by dark wood-grained/canvas side cabinets and a lamp. (An additional fold out bed can be provided for a small fee). A brown wood mirrored wardrobe provides generous closet/drawer space while a window, and wall-length patio doors open to yet another sizable tiled patio with sun beds and partial hillside views. The shared upstairs bathroom features a bath with a shower attachment, pedestal sink with overhead mirrored cabinet, a double frosted window over the toilet, and a washing machine.

*** There are 9 steps just beyond the house that provide a shortcut to Almyrida’s beaches, restaurants and shops – which, when taking this route, are only 400 meters away.

Villa Location

The heart of the village of Almyrida is only 400m from Villa Anastasia, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 13 tavernas, a pizzeria/pasta restaurant, 7 cafés, 2 bars, 2 bakeries, 4 mini-markets, 7 gift shops, 1 Italian ice cream shop, a pharmacy, a butcher, a fruit and vegetable shop with a deli counter, an off license/liquor shop, 1 24 hour kiosk, a nail spa, a body wellness spa, and 3 real estate offices. Also in Almyrida there is a scuba diving centre, a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans, an area with pool tables and games machines, a chldren's play centre, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information, private boat hire, boat trips, waterskiing, big game fishing, horse riding, private sightseeing flights in a light aircraft, and guided walking tours and coach excursions.  A few minutes by car from Villa Anastasia, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio and lace making in Gavalohori. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.
